La Mesa

La Mesa, California is in San Diego County. In 2000, the population of La Mesa was 54,749. It was officially a city on February 16, 1912.

Close to 12 miles from the Pacific Ocean, the town of La Mesa is a perfect location. The weather in La Mesa is hotter than San Diego because it is farther from the ocean and doesn’t get as much of the cold front the water gives off. It has hot, dry summers and warm winters. In the summers the average temperature is the 80s and low 90s, and in the winters the high is around the high 60s and low 70s.

The city of San Diego on the north and west of La Mesa, and Lemon Grove and Spring Valley are just to the south of the city. El Cajon is to the east of the town as well. The neighborhood of Grossmont is popular, and it is also included in the La Mesa area.
