Coronado Island or Coronado is a tourist destination in California. It’s a resort city and located in San Diego County by San Diego City. It is around 5 miles from downtown San Diego. In 2000 the population was 24,100. According to the World Report and U.S. News, Coronado is one of the most expensive places to live.
In spanish, the word Coronado means “the crowned one,” and so the city was named after that as the “Crown City.”

The city has a total area of 32.7 sq. miles according the the US Census.

The Hotel del Coronado is one of the main attractions of Coronado. It’s known through out the world as one of the top resorts! It is listed as a National Historic Landmark. The hotel has had many famous people stay there through out time! Including many US Presidents and others such as: Charles Lindbergh, Thomas Edison, Babe Ruth, Magic Johnson, Muhammad Ali and many others.

The Coronado Unified School District includes the Coronado High School, the Coronado Middle School and may elementary schools. There are also private schools such as the Sacred Heart Parish School and the Christ Church Day School.
