Yuba county seat of Sutter County and is the principal city of Yuba City Metropolitan Area which encompasses all Sutter and Yuba counties. Yuba is exactly located 40 minutes north of California’s Capitol in Sacramento. It was founded in 1849 by Samuel Brannan, Pierson Reading and Henry Cheever on a land purchased to John Sutter. The three came to established a distribution center for supplying the Gold Rush 49’s. One of them is still remembered and honored until this day with the city park was named after him. When the Gold Rush was over the county began to prosper with the people turned to fertile land west of the river. The City of Yuba was established as the county seat vote in 1856, and incorporated in January 23,1908.

The county has a total area of 1,667 km², 2.03% of this is water, which is 34 km² and a land area of 1,633 km². As of 2000 census the county has 60,219 people and a total of 14,805 families living the county. Different races can also be found in the county majority of them are White who make up almost 70% of the county’s population, Black or African American that is 3.16%, 2.61% is native American, 7.50% Asian, 0.20% Islander, 17.35% is Hispanic or Latino in races and the remaining 15.89% is from other races or from two or more combined races.
