The county of Sutter was one of the original Sacramento counties created in 1850. The county’s name was taken from John Augustus Sutter, he is one of the state’s more engaging and complex personalities and an agricultural personalities. The county is part of the Greater Sacramento CSA, just north north of the state capital Sacramento and sits in along the Sacramento River in the Central Valley of the State of California. In this area you can also find the “World’s Smallest Mountain Range” the Sutter Buttles, this volcanic formation provides relief to the otherwise seemingly flat Sacramento Valley. Sutter covers a total area of 609 square miles and has a total population of 93,142.
