The city of Auburn is one of the most desirable place to live in the area of Northern California. Auburn city is the county seat of Placer county and precisely located at the crossroads of I-80 and Highway 49. The city has a total area of 7.5 square miles and recorded 13,106 residents residing the area as of March 14,2009. This city is also known for its famous residents once live and currently living in here like Clark Ashton Smith, a poet and short story writer, Stacy Dragila a pole vaulting Olympic gold medalist and actor Tomas Arana (in the Gladiator Movie).
In the year of 1849 the area was officially named as Auburn and due to development and establishment of mining camp the city population had grown to about 1,500 people the next year. By 1851 gold mining operations was moved to the actual site of where the Auburn nestled right now and same year where in Auburn became the county seat of Placer. The First Transcontinental Railroads was reached Auburn in the year 1865. Moreover, Auburn is also committed in supporting sports activities such as the Western States Endurance Ride/Tevis Cup and Western States Endurance Run/Ultra Marathon every year.
